Big downside:This thing takes forever to dry after washing.Far longer in the dryer than anything else in the laundry.And if you don't get it very dry, it quickly mildews.Once I left it overnight after washing in the machine and it already smelled of mildew the next morning.Twice I attempted to air-dry it after washing and ended up with a mildewy pad that I had to re-wash and rinse with added vinegar.
If you live in a very dry climate and can hang it in the sun, it might be okay.But in our more humid climate, all I can do is put it in the (energy-hungry) dryer for a looong time.Bummer.
