(More customer reviews)Purchased the Plan toy Kitchen Center last Christmas (2009) for a then 2-3/4 year-old boy.Kitchen play is very big in preschool. Arrived undamaged and required minimal assembly. Probably took less than 10 minutes to put together.A rather small and compact kitchen center. It is great for condo/apartment living; blends well in living area. Very aesthetically pleasing - like the gender neutral color palate. We purchased the orange - light wood combination as the price was about $25 cheaper than the red. Recommend for play with 1-2 children only due to smaller size. A bit pricey - but expected with Plan Toy Products; well constructed environmentally friendly product with no plastic components. The doors are hinged. A very simple toy with few bells and whistles. You do hear clicking sounds when turning the knobs, the kitchen faucet turns and the sink is metal. We do have a few of the Plan toy kitchen accessories; pots, dishes and kitchen utensils. The Melissa and Doug food items work well. The kitchen center has remained a favorite and frequently played with toy of my now 3-year-old boy. It encourages him to use his imagination; he makes me coffee and meals on a frequent basis; he infrequently washes the dishes - go figure.Overall the toy has held up nicely. The sink is a bit thin and has a few dings.Paint finish requires gentle cleaning - no harsh abrasives. The slots for cooking utensils are a bit incompatible for the dexterity of a toddler and a young preschooler to use.I anticipate at least a couple more years of regular use.I would recommend this toy to a friend and would definitely purchase again.
